We wanted you to have a
status report on the mine.
Signs and Markers. Anew identification sign has been installed at
the junction of the access road and county road 19.
Backfilling and Grading.
a. A buffer strip, in which topsoil has been stripped from
the area around the edge of the horseshoe dump, has
been created.
b. The adviseability of incorporating crop coal in the over-
burden stockpile will be discussed in the permanent
regulation permit application.
c. Topsoil stockpiles have been seeded as of November 19, 1980.
Topsoil Handling.
a. You requested topsoil salvage from sedimentation ponds.
U It is our understanding that Carol Pahlke advised Walden
Coal that what was required was that an additional 20"
be salvaged from the upstream side of the sedimentation
pond dam. This has been one.
b. Topsoil has been salvaged from the base of the dam of
sedimentation pond H to the width of one scraper blade.
c. Topsoil has been salvaged west of the pit where the horse-
shoe dump will eventually be located (between the pit
and the road).
