The
Division's personnel subsequently inspected this work
during the next regular inspection of the mine site.
The following will be done with respect to the landslides in
Sylvester Gulch along West Elk's road:
-The road will be traveled on a daily basis to perform the
daily fan check at the Sylvester Gulch main mine fan. Any
problems with slides, the road or the power lines will be
readily apparent.
-Should the slides move on or across the road, West Elk
will endeavor to keep the road and stream channel open by
removing the material with earth-moving equipment. The
material removed will be placed in a suitable location such
as the lower refuse pile subsoil stockpile, the Bear No. 1
stockpile area, or any other approved location.
-If it becomes apparent that more extensive work or
engineering is required, West Elk will contact the
Division.
I hope this information answers any questions you had regarding
the Sylvester Gulch road.
