Historical Sites.
In the northwest corner of the existing Affected Area are the Old Carnation Portal and
an associated ore loadout structure. The azea is stable, and natural revegetation is successful
in this area. These installations were within the original Affected Area boundary, but the
Operator proposes to leave these outside of the new Proposed Affected Area boundary, thus
allowing the Proposed Affected Area boundary to encompass all modern disturbances and to
remain with the 10-acre site limit.
Near the northwest corner of the Affected Area is a 24" vent hole. This historical
installation is stable and hard to find. There is no discernible road into this site. The location
is marked by a single steel post. The top of the casing is at ground level and is covered by a
steel plate and old timbers. There is no power to this site. The site has sparse vegetation and
is indiscernible from the surroundings.
