The silos will be x-rayed and the location of the vertical rebar will be marked neaz the base of each
silo. Concrete will be chipped to expose the rebaz which will be torch cut just prior to loading of
explosives.
1 3/8 inch diameter holes will be drilled twelve inches deep on an eighteen by eighteen inch
pattern. The drill pattern will cover eighteen vertical feet from base elevation at the centerline of
the silo on direction of fall. This pattern will taper to zero feet at the back of the silo.
Each drill hole will be charged with 0.57 pounds of high explosives and primed with an electric
detonator. Rows of holes will be delayed such that a falling notch is created by progressively
breaking the concrete in each dvection from the centerline of fall.
After falling, the silo will be broken by use of a crane and breaking ball with rebaz being cut as
needed.
Silos will be felled and demolished one at a time. Blasting mats fabricated from the sah~aged
conveyor belting will be used. Following the demolition of the second silo all debris will be
covered with four feet of approved fill and old highway 133 opened for trafhc.
