Introduction This document is the decision package prepared by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division (the Division) for the Edna Strip Mine. this document includes: 1) the proposed decision to approve with stipulations the permit renewal application; 2> a summary which includes a history of the review of the permit application, a description of the environment affected by the operation and a description of the mining and reclamation plan; and 3) the written findings of compliance the Division has made as required by the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act. Detailed information concerning the findings of compliance can be found in the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining. The Division has received an application for a permit renewal to conduct surface coal mining and reclamation operations at the Edna Strip Mine. The application was submitted by The Pittsburg & Midway Coal Mining Company, by whom the mine will be operated. The mine is located on federal and private lands within Routt County, Colorado. The legal description of the lands included within the permit area is: Township 5 North, Range 85 West of the 6th Principal Meridian: S1/2 Sec. 19, SW1/4 Sec. 20, Wl/2, Wl/2 E1/2 Sec. 30, Sec. 31 Township 5 North, Range 86 West of the 6th Principal Meridian: E1/2 E1/2 Sec. 36 Township 4 North, Range 86 West of the 6th Principal Meridian: E1/2 NE1/4, SEl/4 Sec. 12, S1/2, NEl/4, El/2 NWl/4, SW1/4 NW1/4 Sec. 13, SEl/4 Sl/2 NEl/4 Sec. 14, NE1/4 Sec. 23, Nl/2, E1/2 SWl/4, NWl/4 SWl/4, Nl/2 SEl/4, W1/2 SE1/4 Sec. 24, NEl/4, Nl/2 SEl/4 Sec. 25 Township 4 North, Range 85 West of the 6th Principal Meridian: N1/2, SW1/4, Wl/2 SEl/4 Sec. 7, NW1/4 NWl/4 Sec. 8, W1/2 W1/2 Sec. 17, Sec. 16, Nl/2, SW1/4 Sec. 19, NWl/4 Sec. 30 The aforementioned tracts of land are shown on United States Geological Survey quadrangle maps entitled Oak Creek, Cow Creek and Rattlesnake Butte.
