haul road surfaces and soft spots.
Some of Stockpile ~ 1 could be used in the topographic reconfiguration of the
north-western portion of the West Pit. This is the area now occupied by the
present relocation of the drainage through the corner of the West Pit. Rest-
oration of the drainage to the east and the ripraping of the originai channel
alignment through the present sedimentation pond "D" will require an estimated
4,500 cu. yds. of backfill and riprap. This material will have to be moved
by loader and truck to be placed properly.
It is my belief that Stockpile ~1 could thereby be reduced to a more stable
configuration for proper reclamation. I will recommend a survey be made of
this area to determine whether the approved post mining topography can be met
by this reduction.
It is my understanding that Mr. Strve Layton of GEC P"inerals will be present
at the next board meeting, 26 April 1984. At that time he will be able to
discuss GEC's situation in more detail.
I wish to thank you and Sandy for the help you have given me in recovering what
data there is available in this matter.
