presented take any cut and fill into consideration? Or will there be none? Will all roads and
pipelines be oriented along the ridges, or will some cross from one side ridge to another (for
example 5-106 and 5-lOC)?
See item 14 for cut and fill information. Each mine panel will be constnzcted in a
manner similar to the 0-5 year panel. The priman~ access roads for each panel will
run along the ridge but a network of roads will be constucted for the individual
wells. If I understand the question correctly, the answer is that there are no plans to
have roads that cross from one ridge to another. The 5-lOB and 5-lOC panels would
be accessed by different roads, each originating from the realigned Yellow Creek Jeep
Trail as depicted in Figure 2-1.
Il. Section 2.1.1.2, Table 2-l. Does this include roads? pipeline corridors? topsoil
stockpiles? azeas of cut and fill? Please explain how the two-pass development works with
these numbers. For example, does the 160 acres for yeazs 0-5 include disturbance associated with
both passes?
As indicated in the Mine Plan, this table includes the entire acreage within panels.
It is not just the physically disturbed area. See items 13,14, and 15 for cut and
fillldisturbance.
12. Section 2.1.1.2, page 2-4 - Is 14 acres the surface acreage of the pond, or the entire area
disturbed for construction of the pond (surface + berm + any other disturbed azeas)? If it is only
for the surface area of the pond, please provide additional azea of disturbance.
The 14 acres projected was for the required surface evaporation area only. When the
berm area is included the total area of disturbance is 20.5 acres.
13. Section 2.1.2.1, page 2-6 - "A few permanent service roads..." These roads should be
mapped and described. What is the length of the main access road? Will there also be a
permanent road (upgraded from its current condition) where the Yellow Creek Jeep Trail is now
located?
As indicated on page 2-6, the permanent roads are shown on figure 2-3. Figure 2-1
shows proposed and existing roads. The only part of the permanent access roads
that does not already exist is the main plant access road from Horse Draw to the
plant site. This section of road is about 1.3 miles (7,007 feet) in length and is briefly
described in Section 2.1.2.1 (page 2-6). This main plant access road will be 24 feet
wide with additional 4-foot shoulders on each side, for a surface width of 32 feet
(about 38-40 feet including drainage ditches and berms). The asphalt cover will be 4
inches thick on top of a 12-inch-thick gravel base. Estimated ct~t and fill is given for
this road is given in response to item 14 below.
5
