The third will be attached to the east end of the main building. This
building will house the CO2 liquidizing equipment. Additional lean-to
the main building will house fire water pumps, pipe line Eeed pumps,
miscellaneous process pumps and compressors. The main building will
be comprised of two sections. The first will be 75 ft. wide, 210 ft. long and
100 ft high and will house the filters and main process units. The other
section will be 75 ft wide, 120 ft long and 36 ft high and will house the
heat exchangers. The pre-engineered building that will house the
administration will be 50 ft wide, 100 ft long and 16 ft high. The boilers
building will be 75 ft. wide, 140 ft. long and 36 ft high. The COZ building
will be 50 ft wide, 75 ft long and 36 ft high. The buildings will be provided
with thermal insulation and roof mounted mechanical ventilators with
corresponding set of wall louvers at the lower wall elevation.
5.1.2 SOLUTION MINING AND WELLHEAD (AREA 11)
A well injection pumping system of four pumps operating and one
standby will be installed in the process plant. These pumps will take
preheated spent brine and will pump it through two heat exchangers
connected in parallel. The spent brine at approximately 425° F and 600
psig then will be injected into the wells. The plant capacity will require 26
production wells operating at the same time.
Each wellhead will be provided with a gas separator to release any
methane gas carry over from the well by the solution. The mine facilities
will include the installation of a brine surge horizontal tank 17' dia by 30'
long installed near the wells. The solution from all the operating wells
will be collected in this tank before it is pumped to the process plant. A
pumping station comprised of five horizontal centrifugal pumps,
including one stand-by, will transfer 3000 gpm of mine solution at a
temperature of 300 °F from the brine solution tank to the 1st stage steam
stripper located in the process building.
5.2 LOWER PLANT
5.2.1 GENERAL (AREA 02)
The lower plant will be built on the former Unocal property. Some
existing buildings will be used for warehouse, maintenance shop, locker
rooms, laboratory, firehouse, clinic, guard house, administration offices,
fire water pump building, boiler water treatment, cooling tower, reagent
building and the control building.
