Noise generated by Yankee Gulcl: Project construction activity
should drop to allowable daytime Industrial zone levels l85 db(A)]
at a distance of ,100- 500 feet from the activity. '
87. modeled results/inputs (i.e. estimated number of cars and trucks, both during day and
night) and/or calculations/ estimates of daytime and nighttime noise levels of all traffic associated
with the project in relation to sensitive receptors
Estimated construction- and operations-related traffic volumes for trucks and cars
are presented in the Section 8.15, pages 8-43 through 8-46. Both construction truck
traffic and commuter traffic will occur primarily during the day, with commuter
traffic occuring primarily during two episodes in the early morning and early
evening hours. Daring project operations, both sites will 6e operated 24 hours per
day, in three shifts. Therefore, commuter traffic will occur primarily during three
episodes per 24-hour period. Truck traffic for delivery of supplies and for other
purposes will occur primarily during the day.
No estimates of noise levels associated with project-related traffic have been made.
Socioeconomics
88. We need to include socioeconomic data by towns as well as counties. The following data
for the towns is needed.
Town-specific data that are more recent than the 1990 Census are somewhat difficult
to find and have been presented in the Mine Plan to the extent they are available.
You may find additional information, but it will likely require considerable time
and effort to find it (i.e., interviewing additional local town officials, realtors, etc.).
The issue here, of course, is time and budget invested vs. real value added to the EIS
analysis.
89. Section 7.14.1.1 -Distance in miles these communities aze from the work sites. (Meeker,
Rangely, Rifle, Pazachute, and Battlement Mesa)
Meeker = 36 miles from the Piceance Site, 57 miles from the Parachute Site;
Rangely = 56 mites from the Piceance Site, 113 miles from the Parachute Site;
Rifle = 18 miles from the Parachute Site, 40 miles from the Piceance Site;
Parachute = 3 miles from the Parachute Site, 55 miles from the Piceance Site;
Battlement Mesa = 5 rniles from the Parachute Site, 57 from the Piceance Site;
Distances given are road miles.
34
