Empire and Greeley <br />Dear Bill: <br />The paragraph numbers refer to the paragraphs contained in <br />letters to Chip Barry regarding the referenced gravel operations. <br />Greeley Pit, Weld County <br />1. Water has been drawn from these ponds since the early 1930's. <br />The water is cycled back into the ponds after it has passed <br />through the gravel washing process. If it is determined that <br />this constitutes a "well" the operator will apply fora well <br />permit. <br />2. Water used for irrigation will be from an irrigation well <br />source. If sufficient water is not available from such a source, <br />a request for change of use will be requested for an alternate <br />source owned by Strong Farms. <br />3. The Exhibit G states that 5.0 acre feet will be available for <br />the plant demands which require 4.6 acre feet of industrial <br />or commercial use. The water to be used for irrigation will <br />be obtained from irrigation sources owned by Strong Farms. <br />4. The owner is not aware of a state law which requires augmentat <br />for evaporative losses caused by surfaces created by mining <br />operation. In the past thirty five years of mining this area, <br />there has been no historical impact on the hydrologic balance <br />of the water caused by this mining operation. <br />Empire Pit <br />1. The following information was obtained from the Oivision of <br />Water Resources. The water right for the Empire Pit is <br />Lindstrom No. 1 Ditch and Water Right. The Appropriation <br />date is February 25, 1861. The adjudication date is <br />The decreed use of the water is domestic uses; for power and <br />for cutting and selling ice.
