DeoL al Natural Resources
Herewith is Plan 3, a revision of and a suppliment to Plans 1 and 2 submitted
by GEC Minerals on 18 July 1984.
Included and attached to this Plan 3 is a profile of the East pit drainage
channel, a revised Post Reclamation Topographic map, revised East pit yardage
table, and a revised time table for all important reclamation end points.
Following is an abstract of pertinent overviews of Plan 3, which will be more
fully documented in the attachments.
EAST PIT ----
As requested by the MLRD staff, Plan 2 has been modified for the East pit by
dozing down the undisturbed pit wall in the Verdos Alluvium, placing this mat-
erial on the emplaced overburden material of Plan 2.
The southern end of the East pit has been filled to reduce the drainage profile
to no more than 15%. This will measureably reduce erosion in the drainage chan-
nel.
This revision will entail an additional 192,700 yds3 of fill and 15,000 yds3 of
cut to be moved over and above that proposed for Plan 2 of 7-18-84.
Please note that the estimated time tc complete reclamation has been increased
an additional thirteen months.
ORPHAN AND NORTH ORPHAN PITS, P,EFUSE PIT, AND TIPPLE AREA---
It is proposed to modify the original approved plan of 1981 ,which envisioned
placing four feet of material in the Orphan and Refuse pits and then covering
with topsoil. It has been found that an excessive amount of overburden was used
to fight the fire in an adjoining area, so that only enough remains to give app-
roximately two feet of cover before topsoiling. Since all the overburden in this
area is no~ic, it is felt this is sufficient. Topsoil stockpiled in the area
