Box 5 <br />Allenspazk, Colorado 80510 <br />RE: Archaeological Monitoring Summary Report For Work Undertaken Between <br />October lOw, 2000, and November 6w, 2003, Dowe Valley, Boulder County, <br />Colorado. <br />Dear Michael: <br />As per your request I have summarized my five azchaeological monitoring work <br />periods undertaken between October 10~, 2000, and November 6, 2003. No <br />monitoring was undertaken during 2001. All monitoring of topsoil activities <br />have been undertaken north of the rock crushing facility between the ridge line <br />and relocated-County Rd. 47, Dowe Valley, northern Boulder County, Colorado <br />(see accompanying, USGS Hygiene, topographical quadrangle). The total acres <br />monitored are unknown at this time. These five monitoring sessions, with <br />supporting Archaeological Photographic Record forms and Dowe Flats Disturbance <br />Monitor forms (with the exception of Monitoring Session One), are as follows: <br />.October 10~" -12~, 2000 (Monitoring Session One) <br />Archaeological monitoring during this three day period failed to yield any <br />prehistoric or historic cultural resources (i.e., isolated finds, features, or sites). . <br />Twelve color photographs were taken during topsoil removal (ca. 24 - 30 inches). <br />Both DS and D9 Cats ripped and stripped the topsoil into large piles for <br />reclamation purposes. Original photographs and Archaeological Photographic <br />Record forms. were submitted to Cemex, Inc., in my transmittal letter dated <br />October 31, 2000. The Dowe Flats Disturbance Monitor forms may not have been <br />available during this initial monitoring session. Copies were not retained in my <br />files.. <br />' January 14~ -18~, 2002 (Monitoring Session Two) <br />Archaeological monitoring during this five day period. (Monday -Friday) failed <br />to yield any prehistoric or historic cultural resources. Nine color photographs <br />' were taken during topsoil removal (ca. 36 - 48 inches). Both D8 and D9 Cats <br />ripped and stripped the topsoil into lazge piles for reclamation purposes. Copies <br />of the photographs, Archaeological Photographic Record form, and Dowe Flats <br />' Disturbance Monitor forms were submitted to Cemex, Inc., in my transmittal letter <br />dated January 23, 2002. Copies of the latter two forms aze enclosed. <br /> <br />
