Box 5
Allenspazk, Colorado 80510
RE: Archaeological Monitoring Summary Report For Work Undertaken Between
October lOw, 2000, and November 6w, 2003, Dowe Valley, Boulder County,
Colorado.
Dear Michael:
As per your request I have summarized my five azchaeological monitoring work
periods undertaken between October 10~, 2000, and November 6, 2003. No
monitoring was undertaken during 2001. All monitoring of topsoil activities
have been undertaken north of the rock crushing facility between the ridge line
and relocated-County Rd. 47, Dowe Valley, northern Boulder County, Colorado
(see accompanying, USGS Hygiene, topographical quadrangle). The total acres
monitored are unknown at this time. These five monitoring sessions, with
supporting Archaeological Photographic Record forms and Dowe Flats Disturbance
Monitor forms (with the exception of Monitoring Session One), are as follows:
.October 10~" -12~, 2000 (Monitoring Session One)
Archaeological monitoring during this three day period failed to yield any
prehistoric or historic cultural resources (i.e., isolated finds, features, or sites). .
Twelve color photographs were taken during topsoil removal (ca. 24 - 30 inches).
Both DS and D9 Cats ripped and stripped the topsoil into large piles for
reclamation purposes. Original photographs and Archaeological Photographic
Record forms. were submitted to Cemex, Inc., in my transmittal letter dated
October 31, 2000. The Dowe Flats Disturbance Monitor forms may not have been
available during this initial monitoring session. Copies were not retained in my
files..
' January 14~ -18~, 2002 (Monitoring Session Two)
Archaeological monitoring during this five day period. (Monday -Friday) failed
to yield any prehistoric or historic cultural resources. Nine color photographs
' were taken during topsoil removal (ca. 36 - 48 inches). Both D8 and D9 Cats
ripped and stripped the topsoil into lazge piles for reclamation purposes. Copies
of the photographs, Archaeological Photographic Record form, and Dowe Flats
' Disturbance Monitor forms were submitted to Cemex, Inc., in my transmittal letter
dated January 23, 2002. Copies of the latter two forms aze enclosed.
