"f F
)Vir. Billy Owens
June 73, 2007
Page 2
the slide area in the highly rubblized zone near the slide scarp has shown total movement
approaching five feet to date. This represents the maximum cumulative movement detected at
any monitoring site since the slide occurred. This monument continues to creep downhill at a
very slow but steady rate. The velocities calculated from this movement aze minimal and have
remained steady. The corresponding accelerations are negligible. This behavior is not
unanticipated given the location of the monument near the slide scarp and is not indicative of
overall instability ofthe slide mass. Trapper will pay particular attention to the area surrounding
this monument and to the entire scarp area to be sure that any activities in this zone are
conducted safely.
Other monitoring points situated throughout the scarp azea have shown far less movement during
the eight months since the slide. Cumulative movement totals to date in order of decreasing
magnitude for other sites in the scarp zone are 3.0, 1.4, 0.9, 0.5, 0.5, and 0.4 feet respectively.
Monitoring sites on the slide block but away from the scarp area are currently stable with
cumulative movement typically totaling less than two tenths of a foot. Stability monitoring
activities will continue throughout the slide azea as appropriate and operational precautions will
be implemented as necessary to ensure the continued safety of all personnel working in the slide
azea.
Thank you f%Jr yCL'r prompt anerli:On r0 tnig mailer, FieSgr rtntify Cc at yCtr eazlieSL Cnnyrnienrr
with regazd to this request If you have questions or require further information please contact me
at 970-826-6122 or 970-326-5671 (cell).
Sincerely,
.~ ~.(lsr.P~-~~
Karl Koehier
Safety Manager, Trapper Mining Inc.
cc'.
