-17- The alluvial valley floor would not be physically disrupted by mining and no material damage to the quantity or quality of water in Grassy Creek is predicted. Surface and ground water monitoring plans have been designed to monitor the predicted effects of mining on Grassy Creek. The only essential hydrologic function that could potentially be affected is the supply of water to Grassy Creek, which could potentially be diverted in the future for irrigation. Some effects on quality and quantity of water in Grassy Creek are possible, but they are not expected to be significant. The potential hydrologic impacts are more fully discussed in Section IX - Cumulative H drolo is Im act Stud and Probable Hydrolo is Consequences o this document. Alluvial Vallev Floor Monitori The hydrologic monitoring plan outlined in Section V. Surface Water H drolo , is sufficient to detect potential impacts to the alluvia val ey f oor. Since the AVF is presently undeveloped rangeland, additional monitoring of agricultural productivity is not required. VIII. No depletion of surface or ground water is expected under the projected mine plan. No impacts to water rights are expected and therefore no replacement plans are necessary. The application is in compliance with the requirements of this section. IX. nseauences - Rules This Cumulative Hydrologic,Impact Study (CHIS) for a portion of the Yampa River basin has been prepared by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division (CMLRD) pursuant to Rule 2.07.6(2)(c). This CHIS assesses the projected cumulative hydrologic impacts of all anticipated mining operations in the general area of the Grassy Gap No. 1 coal mine. The surface water and ground water general areas are depicted in Figure 1. As discussed later, the general areas of the surface water and ground water basins do not coincide. Anticipated mining is defined as the existing mines and those for which complete permit applications have been submitted to the Division. Anticipated mining operations in the study area (Figure 2) include: 1) Sunland Mining Corporation - Apex No. 2 Mine, CMLRD Permit No. C-Oll-81 2) Pittsburg and Midway Coal Company - Edna Mine, CMLRD Permit No. C-001-80 3)Colorado Yampa Leasing Company - Energy Mines No. 1, No. 2, the Eckman Park Mine, and the Foidel Creek Mine, CMLRD Permit No. C-79-177
