Box 187, <br />Craig CO 81626. <br />The intent of OSMRE's surface wal mining and reclamation award's program is to identify top quality <br />coal mine operators for implementing SMCRA in an exemplary manner. Trapper Mining inc. is one such <br />mine [hat goes beyond the minimal requirements for regulatory compliance, we develop and implcment <br />new reclamation technologies and practices and we actively share in the exchange and transfer of techno- <br />logy we have developed. Trapper Mine is proud of their reclamation performance and encourages public <br />tours through the local Chamber of Commerce in Craig, CO. In 1990, an estimated 2000 people, young <br />and old, visitcd our facility. Trapper Mine actively promotes the concept of environmentally responsible <br />coal mining and is determined to erase any other public perception, at leas[ in northwest Colorado. <br />The following narrative describes two activities, postmine stream channel stabilisation and wildlife habitat <br />improvcment, that Trapper Mine has shown exemplary reclamation performance. <br />
