Banta.
Drvivon Deeaor
The Trapper hiining Company, Trapper Mine, is hereby nominated to receive the
1990 CMA Reclamation Award, for a Large Surface Mine. The mine has operated
three dragline pits throughout the year, with concurrent reclamation
activities proceeding on schedule and in compliance with the permit and the
Law. Trapper Mining Co. has been extremely cooperative, and their compliance
and reclamation efforts have been exemplary.
Facilities maintenance has been of excellent quality. Channel reconstruction
has been implemented throughout the mine, with considerable success. Mine
personnel always submit revision applications prior to implementing mine
activity changes. Submittals are thorough, and a representative usually calls
before submitting the application to ensure that all necessary issues are
addressed. ~
Overall, the Trapper Nline has an excellent compliance record. No violations
exist for 1990. Cooperation has been excellent, and the operator often
conducts reclamation efforts which exceed the basic requirements. Also,
Bill Agnew (representing Trapper Mining Co.) is an active participant in
policy making functions sucft as Rule making, CMA meetings and MLRB meetings.
Trapper Mine would be a worthy recipient of the 1990 Large Surface Mine Award.
1651E/scg
