6.2 Calibration Procedures and Frequency
All instnunents and equipment used during sampling and analysis will be operated, calibrated,
and maintained according to the manufacturer's guidelines and recommendations, as well as
criteria set forth in the applicable analytical methodology references. Calibration, operation, and
maintenance will be performed by personnel properly trained in these procedures.
Documentation of al] routine and special maintenance and calibration will be maintained in
appropriate field records.
Field instrumentation will be calibrated on-site at the beginning of each sampling day, or at any
time that instrument readings aze questionable. Calibration of the pH, conductivity, and
temperature meters will be performed as outlined in Appendix C - Standazd Operating Procedure
for Ground Water and Surface Water Sampling.
6.3 Data Validation and Reporting
Data will be evaluated for precision, accuracy, and completeness. Validation of field data is
performed by internal procedures audit. All analytical data reports will be evaluated within 30
days of receipt from the laboratory. Analytical laboratory data will be sent to required agencies
and made available for inspection and maintained in a central job file. All records will be
maintained for the life of the mine. Types of records to be maintained for this project include the
following:
Field log books
Chain-of-custody and Sample Analysis Request Forms
Case narrative reports describing any discrepancy or deficiency
Laboratory analytical reports
All supporting QC information
Internal Quality Control Checks
6.4 Quality Control Checks
The quality control samples used to measure accuracy and precision affected by field activities
aze described in Appendix C and are summarized below:
Distilled Water Blanks
These field blanks are samples of de-ionized or distilled water, which aze submitted to the
laboratory for analysis. These blanks will be collected as a quality check on distilled water used
during sampling events. One blank suite per sampling event will be analyzed using the technique
described in Appendix C. Blanks will be labeled and handled as regular samples.
Draft Modification No. 9 UIC Area Permit No. CO30858-00000 Page 35 of 44
