-g-
IV. Geology -- Rules 2.04.5 and 2.04.6
Geology Description -Rule 2.04.6
Information on the geology of the mine and adjacent area can be found in the
permit application on pages 17 to 24C and in Appendices I and J. A general
description of the geology of the Eastside Mine is presented in Section VIII
of this document.
Several adequacy comments were submitted to the applicant concerning the
description of geology for the mine area. These inadequacies were
subsequently resolved by the applicant.
The proposed operation is in compliance with tiie requirements of this section.
V. Hydrology -Rules 2.04 and 4.05
Hvdroloov Description and Monitoring - Rules 2.04.7 and 4.05.13
A general and detailed description of the ground and surface water system in
the mine and adjacent areas is presented in pages 25 to 53-0 in the permit
application. There is sufficient information presented to depict the seasonal
variations of flow and chemistry for the surface water of the area. Ground
water quality and quantity information for alluvium and bedrock aquifers has
been provided for the area. In addition, the permit application contains a
model of impacts expected from mining.
The information presented in the permit application has been utilized by the
Division to predict worst case impacts that could occur due to mining at the
Eastside facilities. These results are presented in the Probable Hydrologic
Consequences - Section VIII of this document.
In order to verify these predictions, an ongoing monitoring program is
needed. The permittee has not committed to such a program. Therefore, the
following stipulation is required.
STIPULATION N0. 1
THE PERMITTEE Wilt PERFORM THE MONITURING OUTLINED BELOW AND SUBMIT A
HYDROLOGIC MONITORING REPORT ANNUALLY IN JANUARY TO THE DIVISION
INCORPORATING THE FOLLOWING MONITORING DATA.
SURFACE WATER
1. MONTHLY MONITORING OF THE HARVEY GAP RESERVOIR OUTLET AND THE
SAMPLE SITE DESIGNATED AS HARVEY GAP BELOW THE MINE (ON h1AP HGP-18).
THIS MONTHLY MONITORING MUST INCLUDE FLOW AND FIELD PARAMETERS.
QUARTERLY SAMPLES ARE TO BE TAKEN FOR THE FULL SUITE CHEMICAL
PARAMETERS AS DESIGNATED LATER IN THIS SECTION.
-.
