Editor:
I think the Sprague Quarry
Permit should be granted
without the people of this
valley being involved. This
valley has been quarried since
the late 1800s and the houses
have come to the quames, no[
[he other way.
Vic Norris wants to make
money from his moss rock but
Mr. Sprague doesn't have the
same right. Mr. Sprague says
he will only quarty the amount
he is now quarrying so there is
no impact i can see on the
neighborhood. What the people
don't know is that he has to
reclaim his present quarry in
order to Stan a new one.
Our permits should include the
whole property like a farm, so
it can be utilized properly. For
example, if a customer wants a
rock out of a quarry that isn't
permitted, you can't sell it to
him
Mr. Maurer thinks the quarry
owners should be put in their
place and toe the line. Well, if
it weren't for the quarries,
Lyons wouldn't even be here
for the Johnny-come-latelys. 1
think if Maurer, Noms and
Loos don't like quames or
people on [he public road, they
should buy us out and get rid of
their problem for good. Put up
or shut up. The Town should be
supporting [he quames instead
of fighting them. I don't think
there is one old-timer in Lyons
who hasn't worked in a rock
quarry at one time or other to
make a buck.
W.D. Boone
Lyons
