Baseline soils information can be found in Section 2.04, <br />pages 48-55, Volume I of the permit application. The topsoil handling and <br />management plan can be found in Section 2.05, volume I of the permit <br />application. <br />Savo soil types are found in the proposed permit area; the Carracas loam, and <br />Dunn loam. Only the Carracas loam has been and will continue to be disturbed <br />by future mining operations. <br />The Carracas Zoam consists of a surface horizon varying from 0-4" thick. This <br />horizon is underlain by a subsurface sandy Loam or sandy clay loam ranging <br />from 4-14" in thickness. There have been no potential management problems <br />identified with this soil unit and it is considered a good plant growth medium. <br />Chimney RoaC salvages all available soil material well ahead of the active pit. <br />This material is then stockpiled and seeded as required. During reclamation, <br />an average of 6" of material is replaced and prepared in a manner that establishes <br />a good seedbed. <br />The proposed operation is in compliance. <br />I. Ve4etation - Rules 2,04.10, 2,05,4(2)(e), and 4.15 <br />The mountain shrub community type dominates with+the five-year permit boundary. <br />A small pastureland and disturbed areas account for the remaining area. A <br />discvssior. of the vegetation is provided in Section 2.04.10, Volume I of the <br />permit application, with a quantitative study found ir. Erhibit 3I, Volume IV. <br />The Division has reviewed the permit application for compliance with these <br />sections. Information on baseline vegetation can be found in Section 2.04.10 <br />(pages 2.04-56 through 2.04-57) and Exhibit 31. Information on the revegetation <br />plan and revegetation success criteria can be found in Section 2.05.4 (pages <br />2,OS-S4 through 2.05-ti4), <br />The mountain shrub and pinyon-juniper communites dominate within the permit <br />area. A small pastureland and disturbed areas account for the remaining area. <br />The applicant performed a quantitative.vegetation survey on the mountain shrub <br />and pinyon-juniper communities, The most recent study was submitted August 24, <br />I982. <br />
