SPECIAL CONDITIONS G.E.C. - Orphan Pit - Coal Revocation Project RN-COAL-MINES - 7 PROJECT LOCATION The project is located six miles south of Florence, Colorado, off County Road 15. See the attached maps. WORK SUMMARY The project work involves the following seven separate reclamation activities: the removal of coal waste, red rock (clinker) and overburden and the placement of the material into a small pit and along an existing highwall, topsoil placement encompassing 3.7 acres in the regraded area, and fertilization and seeding of 5.4 acres; preparation of a haul road encompassing 1.3 acres for re-seeding; pond embankment removal and revegetation of 0.5 acres; stabilization of a stream head cut; sediment cleanout from an existing pond; finish grading of and seeding of gullies on a reclaimed slope; and revegetation of four previously graded areas totalling 27 acres. All acreages are approximate. PRE-BID MEETING AND SITE SHOWING A mandatory pre-bid meeting and site showing will be held at the G.E.C. Mine on Tuesday, July 28, 1992. Please meet at the entrance to the Corley Ranch, located 4 miles southwest of State Highway 67 on County Road 15, at 10:30 a.m. The purpose of the Pre-Bid Meeting is to show prospective bidders the work site and vicinity. Bidders are advised to be prompt. Failure to attend the entire meeting will be cause for rejection of a bid. Bidders are cautioned that, notwithstanding any remarks or clarifications given at this meeting and site showing, all terms and conditions of the contract documents remain unchanged unless they are changed by written amendment issued by the OWNER. If the answers to questions, or any amendment to the contract documents create ambiguities, it is the responsibility of the bidder to seek clarification prior to submittal of the bid. BID OPENING DATE The bid opening date for this project is Tuesday, August 11, 1992 at 2:00 p.m. Please see Number 2 of the "General Conditions". A written tabulation of the Bid results will be available to those bidders who submit a self-addressed stamped envelope with their bid. Telephone requests cannot be honored because of time constraints.
