Less than approximately 33%.
2. Greater than 33%.
On slopes less than approximately 33%, any one of two mulching procedures
shall be used:
1. Hay or straw mulch, crimped
2. Hydromulch with tackifier
On slopes greater than approximately 33% and one of three mulching procedures
shall be used:
1. Hay or straw mulch with non-asphalt tackifier
2. Hay or straw mulch with netting
3. The crimper shall be
equipped with scrapers to keep the blades clean. Spacing of crimper
blades shall not exceed nine inches. On areas less than one acre,
crimping may be achieved by hand with a suitable tool, such as a
spade, on eighteen inch centers.
2. Hav or straw mulch with tackifier
Hay or straw mulch shall be applied as in treatment number 1 above,
except for crimping. Anon-asphalt tackifier shall be applied
uniformly over the mulch at a rate of 120 pounds per acre or, in
accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
3. Hay or straw mulch with netting
Hay or straw mulch shall be applied as in treatment number 1 above,
except for crimping. Erosion control netting shall be applied over
the straw. The erosion control netting shall be AMXCO polypropylene
netting as manufactured by American Excelsior Company, or equivalent.
The netting shall be extruded polypropylene with approximately 1.5
x 1.3 strands per inch, with a mesh opening of approximately 5/8" x
3/4".
