20. NPDES Permit
The NPDES Permit in the permit application expired March 31, 1986.
Please submit a current permit in compliance with Rule 4.05.2(7).
21. Sediment Control System Map
Map 6, (October 1981 version), shows iwo ditches, one each coming into
the north and south ends of the sediment pond. It doesn't have any
labeling of these ditches. Because of this deficiency, runoffs can't be
calculated to establish ditch sizing calculations. The permit
application contains several references to ditches and sediment control
measures (pages 2.05-55, 4.05-3, and 4.05-5) which note that these
structures are indicated on Map 10, the Mine Facilities Map. Map 10,
however, only delineates the following hydrology related items:
a. one surface water monitoring site;
b. sediment control pond; and
c. alluvial wells AA-1 and AA-3.
Please submit a new map (Sediment Control System) at a scale of 100 feet
to the inch or larger, which shows the following:
a, surface water monitoring sites;
b, sediment control pond;
c. alluvial well locations;
d, collection ditches;
e. labeled culvert locations;
f. watershed/drainage areas (as was generally included on the 10/$1
version of Map 6);
g, location of intakes which were discussed in the permit (shallow
well and direct pumping from the North Fork of the Gunnison River);
h, water flow direction; and
i. small area exemptions.
Please also include on the legend the culvert and ditch dimensions.
Submittal of the Sediment Control Map will require that references to Map
10 in addition to those listed above will be revised. This map should
comply with Rules 2.04.7(4) and 2.10.1(2).
22. Access Road Sediment Control
The access road from the highway at Somerset to the bridge is not drained
into an approved sedimentation pond. Narrative should be included in the
permit application that identifies this area as a small area exemption
and includes:
-7-
