Special Conditions; and 3) coal and/or coal waste material excavated from <br />the coal stockpile area. The back fill shall extend from the bulkhead <br />seal to the surface at the portal concrete headwall or faceup and to <br />within 18 inches (measured vertically) of the roof line as depicted on <br />Exhibit 6D. Use of portions of demolished structures and/or other <br />related materials to fill in the openings shall be done in accordance <br />with the specifications described in Section III. 2.2.8.2 of the Special <br />Conditions. Under no circumstances shall these materials be placed in <br />the front 1/4 of the openings as measured from the bulkhead seal to the <br />surface. Use of coal or coal waste as fill shall be limited to placement <br />either in 1) isolated piles along the floor centerline of the opening <br />and covered on the top and sides with a minimum of 3 feet of non-coal <br />earth fill material or 2) sufficiently mixed in with non-coal earth fill <br />material and placed in such a manner that eliminates the possibility of <br />spontaneous Comb USL10n. <br />Portal #1 has partially collapsed and as such cannot be safely backfilled <br />from the surface to the bulkhead seal. This opening shall be backfilled <br />using non-coal earth fill material only. The back fill shall extend from <br />the surface at the concrete portal face uD or headwall back t0 the point <br />of collapse or subsidence and to within 18 inches (measured vertically) <br />of the roof line. <br />Portal #6 is a relatively shallow opening and the rear portion is <br />difficult to access due to the presence of several vertical support <br />timbers. This opening shall be backfilled using non-coal earth material <br />only. The backfill shall extend from the surface at the concrete portal <br />face up or headwall back to the rear end of the steel arch sets and to <br />within 18 inches (measured vertically) of the roof line. <br />4.3 Measurement and Payment <br />No measurement for payment shall be made for this bid item. Payment <br />shall be made for the lump sum bid Drice. The price bid shall include <br />all of the CONTRACTOR'S cost of whatever nature to complete the above <br />described work in accordance with the specifications. <br />5.0 DISTURBED AREA REGRADIN <br />5.1 Description <br />This specification covers all work required for excavation and fill <br />necessary to complete the regrading scheme as shown on the exhibits and <br />drawings, for compacting fiil material, and for removal and disposal of <br />mining related materials encountered in the excavations. <br />-15- <br />
