bosom of our 9.600 foot volcano, that also towers like e
lone sentinel over the bustling little community of Trinidad,
but we would be disfiguring one of our most prominent and
beautiful landmarks used by the conquistidores, pioneers,
and some of the earliest French explorers in our vicinity.
This is not to mention the tribes of Indians who roamed in
our area such as the Utes, pp ache, Comanche, niowa, Cheyenne,
and the Arapahoe who not only used the landmark oi' Fishers
Peax for travel, but also hunted the area for wildlife and
quite extensively Tor their food, Local and visiting artists
who consider one of their most beautiful and interesting
subjects to sketch and to capture it's spectacular beauty
on their canvas end record it's beauty forever, will lose
that privilege to these tyrants of destruction who rape the
land and who will scratch into the very bowels of Mother
Earth to pluck ell of the precious metals, minerals, and
consumable materials from her womb so that man can pacify
his voracious appetite, and of course for "The Almighty
Dollar" which is so relentlessly pursued et any cost even
if it means destroying natures most precious gift to man to
enjoy and to marvel at. I also believe that with the enhance-
ment of tourism in our quaint vicinity'that.we.will-prosper
and sustain our beautiful end natural land mares which we are
already famous for now, and this increase of historical sites
will bring even more tourists from all over the world to spend
their money in our fair community, instead of discouraging
tourism here in Trinidad and the surrounding areas.
