This seed mix will also
be used during the fall reclamation activities.
At the end
stated that
the permit
February 5t
presented i
shrub seed
supplemental
No. 1 in the
iii iiiiiiiiiiiu iii
of Mr. Rennet's March 12th letter, it
the approved mix "should be incorporated
document". The Seneca II Mine area has been
especially hard hit. Precipitation for 1987 has been
below normal, with only 10.5 inches received during the
period from January 1 to October 15. Because of the
drought and depletion of the already limited available
soil moisture during the growing season by annual weedy
vegetation in potential planting areas, it is felt that
the planting of tree or shrub seedlings th' would
result in a complete failure. Therefore no seedlings e
to be planted during the fall 1987 reclamation season at
Seneca II. As stated in my letter of February 5th,
/ a nal shrub s 's to be planted in selected
~/ concen ted shrub seed'n area Roy Karo, Reclamation
~- upervisor at Seneca II, is selecting these concentrated
planting areas on a continuing basis as reclamation
activities proceed this fall.
