~-
Dr. W.D. Corley
-2-
October 1. 1992
It is also the consensus of hlr. Renner and myself that Ms. Begej is more than
technically, professionally, and personably able to develop, manage and
complete the GEC Strip Mine Reclamation Project. Her knowledge of surface
water and groundwater hydrology, soil and aqueous geochemistry, erosion
control methods, State and Federal statutes, and history of the GEC site make
her our pre-eminent choice to manage this assignment. Additionally, the
efficiency of the management of our other operations would be greatly affected
by any exchange of personnel and projects, as the personnel involved would
require time for familiarization of the status, operations and histories of a
multitude of newly-reassigned projects. as such a familiarization period can
last for up to a year, personnel reassignments in this case would needlessly
delay the completion of the GEC Strip Mine Reclamation Project. For these
reasons, we believe any personnel reassignments involving the GEC project are
unwarranted.
We thank you for your continued correspondence and cooperation in these
matters. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further service we may
provide.
Sincerely,
,l
,~i~ i /,
/:..
Daniel I. Hernandez
Senior Reclamation Specialist
DIH/scg
cc: Steve Renner, DMG
Catherine Begej, DMG
5015E
