The
results of this inspection are shown on the enclosed aerial
photograph.
The aerial photograph shows locations of rills and gullies
we will continue to monitor (pink), those that will be
revegetated (green), and those that will require additional
protection (yellow). The three rill areas identified in
pink are not yet nine inches in depth. These rills appear
to have resulted from non-specific overland flow sources.
They will continue to be observed to determine if
detrimental development occurs.
Six rill areas identified in green will require minor
remedial prepatory work and revegetation. These areas have
been generally a result of headcutting caused by overland
flow, although one incident in the Wolf Creek area was a
result of runoff being temporarily rerouted by a snowdrift.
Some of the rills have been developing armour coating. The
remedial plan for these areas is:
Minor regrading, as appropriate, or channelization
in severe portions of rills, minimizing
disturbance to adjacent established vegetation;
Install straw check dams anchored with steel posts
along length of rill channelized;
Disk areas not to be channelized;
Replace removed topsoil as necessary;
Complete remedial work in late summer prior to
seeding;
Seed disturbed areas with previously approved seed
mix at approved rate;
Two gullies identified in yellow will require additional
protection. Gully A, in the Wolf Creek area, is a result of
