CAMAS will prepare a Monitoring Plan, an outline of which is give in the balance of
this paragraph. Said Monitoring Plan will be submitted to and approved by the Office
of the State Engineer. Tf determined by OSE to be necessary, the Monitoring Plan will
include a commitment to monitor adjacent wells (where allowed by an adjacent well
owner) an/or install new monitoring wells. Said Monitoring Plan would include
proposed measures to be undertaken, in the event data from existing wells (where
monitoring is allowed) and new monitoring wells in accordance with standards in the
Monitoring Plan approved by OSE, determines that the operation is having any
demonstrated adverse affect on adjacent wells or basements. Item #21 It is unknown
how many of the identified wells are still in operation today .Some of the wells are large
capacity irrigation wells with the majority being small capacity wells. It is unknown if any of
the wells provide domestic water to the owner, however, given the poor water quality in the
area, it is unlikely that water from this aquifer serves as a potable supply. Subject to approval
by OSE, the operator proposes to monitor the groundwater table as follows:
1. A monitoring grid will be located around the property. A total of 6 monitoring points
will be established with baseline data collected prior to the start of mining. The
baseline information will consist of at least three sets of water table measurements
being made before mining starts. The measurements will attempt to collect data
during different times of the year to allow for fluctuations that normally occurs, such
as deep water percolation for irrigation, etc.
2. The operator will monitor the water table on a monthly basis for the life of the mine.
The water table data shall be supplied to the Division of Minerals and Geology
(DMG) with the annual report.
Project Water Requirements
The proposed mining operation will consume water from plant operations, lake evaporation
from exposed groundwater, and moisture loss in materials transported from the site. An
estimate of the water consumption from the proposed operation during and after
mining and reclamation is completed is as follows:
Water Consumption Description
Losses During
Mining Operations
in Ac.Ft.
Losses After Mining
and Reclamation is
Completed in Ac.Ft.
Silt Pond Evaporation 39.1 0.0
Haul Road Dust Suppression 2.0 0.0
Moisture Loss in Materials 4J4 2 0.0
TOTAL CONSUMED WATER 85.3 0.0
5
