COOLEY AND FULTON LAKES PIT
(Revised 07/09/991
EXHIBIT E -RECLAMATION PLAN
The reclamation plan is to do the following:
Preserve existing open space/wildlife preserve areas in their natural state.
2. Create new open space/wildlife preserve areas.
Create a sealed water storage reservoir.
4. Utilize and slightly expand an existing industrial use area, and return this area to industrial
uses upon completion of all of the mining and removal of the plant site facilities.
5. Chain link fencing along the proposed Adams County S. Platte River Trail and the S.
Platte River Trail itself, is not part of CAMAS's responsibility. Fencing will only be
installed by the County along their trail, if an when the County decides to install the
trail. If the County doesn't install the trail during mining, no chain link fencing will be
installed along the east boundary of Phases 2, 3, and 4. Item # 8.
Except for Phase 1B, rnining areas of Parcel B, reclamation will proceed in roughly the same phases
as mining. Slopes will be excavated temporarily to OH (Horizontal) to 1 V (Vertical). Final slopes
will be reclaimed with overburden, waste soil materials, and sand spoils to create stable 3H:1 V slopes
from ground level to the depth of the excavation Backfilling will occur concurrently with mining,
grading will be uniform and continuous and performed in such a manner as to create stable slopes and
minimize erosion.
General standards for bank stability shall be as follows:
1. All backfilled material will be placed in controlled lifts and compacted to 95% at
optimum moisture density according to ASTM D-698 requirements. Thickness of lift
and moisture density relationships will be determined by lab testing.
2. Backfilled slopes will have granular material placed over the top of compacted
embankment to protect from wave erosion.
3. Bank slopes and high walls will be cleared, grubbed, and scarified with each lift prior
to tieing in of the compacted slope embankment. Each lift will overlap into highwalls
a minimum of 12 inches or to competent material.
4. The method used to ensure adequate compaction in backfdled slopes will be compaction
testing with a calibrated nuclear density meter.
