Mining Phase
Year or Activi~ Description of Mining and Other Disturbance Activities
Mining
Phase IA Mining will involve the excavation and storage of 6-12"± of topsoil,
excavation and storage of overburden material, excavation of aggregate
material and export to Parcel C for processing or direct export off site if there
is demand for the material to be used as borrow at the time of excavation.
This limited mining to create new wetlands will be part of 1" Phase of mining.
The proposed mining setbacks are: 50' from any of the three PSCo. towers,
the existing high bank along the east side of the S. Platte River (with
UD&FCD approval), 65' from inside top of the high bank of the Fulton
Ditch' Item #7 - Sorenson's comments, and 35' from the Spring Creek
Ditch, 104' Avenue right-of--way and PSCo. right-of--way. The combination
of these setbacks lead to the closest mining being over 35' to the United
Power poles in the right-of--way, 85'± to the any of the PSCo. tower
structures, 75'± to the Spring Creek Seep Ditch, and 65' to the Fulton Ditch.
Mining may also be allowed within 100' of existing high bank along the
S. Platte River, if both mining and backfilling are completed between
October and March and approval from UD&FCD is obtained. This 100'
area is also shown on Exhibit C-2, Mining Plan Map. UD&FCD
comments
Mining
1 Phase 1B Phase 1B mines 25+ acres of Parcel B. Approximately 4± acres of this parcel,
within the low flow channel of the S. Platte River, will be left undisturbed,
except for any channel improvements required by UD&FCD and any
disturbance for support structures for the conveyor. The mining proposed on
this parcel is expected to be completed within the 1°' year, and will create
approximately 25± acres of temporary lake area. The 25+ acres does include
some area within 400' of the S. Platte River channel. As mining within 400' of
the S. Platte River channel requires approval by UD&FCD and agreement on
what S. Platte River channel improvements should be installed as a condition
of approval, no mining will occur without such approval and agreement. This
400' area is shown on Exhibit C-2, Mining Plan Map. As with Phase lA,
mining may also be allowed within 100' of existing high bank along the
S. Platte River, if both mining and backfilling are completed between
October and March and approval from UD&FCD is obtained. This l00'
area is also shown on Exhibit C-2, Mining Plan Map.UD&FCD
comments Mining will involve the excavation and storage of 6-12"+ of
topsoil, excavation and storage of overburden material, and the excavation of
aggregate material and export to Parcel C for processing. This mining will
also be part of 1"Phase of mining.
5
