Affected Area.
The original Affected Area boundary in the West Sunday Mine Permit followed the
perimeter of a number of tunnel site claims. Afrer this original configuration was established,
properties in the area were consolidated under a former operator, and the tunnel site claims
apparently ceased to exist. The current Operator controls all of the ground encompassing the
Sunday group of mines, and there are no longer any tunnel site claims present in the lands the
current Operator controls. In any event, the current matter at hand is that fact that the original
Affected Area boundary does not encompass all mine-related disturbances associated with this
Permit. Not only has the West Sunday Mine site exceeded the original Affected Area boundary
on its east side, but apparently the vent holes included under the Wesi Sunday Permit may also
be outside of the original proposed permit area.
The Operator proposes to modify the Affected Area boundary at the West Sunday Mine
site as shown on the 1" = 100' map. The Proposed Affected Area boundary effectively
encompasses all of the disturbed area associated with the West Sunday Mine site. The proposed
revised boundary will also accommodate final reclamation activities. Upon reaching agreement
with the Division on the West Sunday Affected Area boundary, the boundary will be marked in
the field to resolve the outstanding Corrective Action item.
The Operator will also pursue resolution by the most effective means fo incorporate the
outlying vent site areas into the Permit area, as required. This will also include bringing the SJ-1
vent site and compressor station under the West Sunday Permit.
Historical Sites.
There are now known historical disturbances within this Permit, to the best of this
Operator's knowledge.
4
