~ -
Mr. Billy Owens
Page 2
Task 7 activities take place within the boundaries of the slide area requires that additional safety
measures be utilized as necessary to insure the safety and well being of the miners assigned to
this task.
Trapper Mine plans to construct access roads and drill pad sites and to drilUcore a series of
exploration holes within the slide area. Geotechnical information derived from this drilling
program will be used to determine what horizon(s) the landslide block moved on and to further
characterize the strata and determine the condition of the coal reserves in the area. This task is
essentially a continuation of Task 4 where approval for two exploration sites was granted. With
the approval of Task 7, Trapper plans to drill a total of seven additional sites within the slide area.
These holes will be drilled through the Q seam and below and will include the installation of at
least two inclinometers and one piezometer.
The roads and pads for these drill sites will be constructed during daylight hours and the drilling
itself will also be done during daylight hours. The drill rig will be moved from the sites as soon
as possible although multiple day set-ups maybe required to install some instrumentation. A
positive means of communication will be provided to the drilling crew and to all other personnel
involved in this task and if significant cracks or other signs of instability aze noticed, miners will
be instructed to immediately withdraw from the area.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please notify us at your earliest wnvenience
with regard to this request as we plan to begin work promptly upon approval.
Sincerely,

Karl Koehler
Safety Manager
cc: Kathleen Kelleher, MSHA
Miners Representative
Jim Mattern, TMI
Steve Hinkemeyer, TMI
Lany Treece, Sherman & Howazd
MSHA Correspondence file
Enc.
