Task 4 Sealing Sediment Pond <br />In order to minimize the infiltration of water from the sediment pond, bentonite will be placed <br />within the pond. Bentonite shall be placed on the base of the pond and up the side slopes to the <br />elevation of the lowest inlet of the CMP riser. <br />CONTRACTOR shall ensure that the pond is free of water prior to initiating this Task. Upon <br />completion of dewatering, if necessary, CONTRACTOR shall stake the elevation of the side <br />slopes of the pond at the elevation of the lower most inlet to the CMP riser. Tn order to ensure <br />that the proper elevation is established, the use of a tripod mounted surveyors level is required. <br />The surface azea of the pond to be affected by this Task shall be scazified to a depth of four <br />inches (4") through the use of a disc harrow. Two inches (2") of dry bentonite shall be placed on <br />the prepared work azea after the discing is completed. This material will be worked into the base <br />and side slopes of the pond by discing the affected area until the bentonite is well incorporated <br />into the scarified surface. <br />Measurement and Payment <br />There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this task will be reflected in a lump <br />sum bid under Item 4 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all costs for identifying <br />the area to be affected by this Task, preparation of the area, and purchase and installation of the <br />bentonite materials. Payment shall be as this task is completed and approved by the PROJECT <br />MANAGER. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for all labor, materials, <br />equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to the completion of Task 4,Sealing <br />Sediment. <br />Task 5 Equipment Rental <br />Areas in and adjacent to the Project Area may require slope reduction, excavation or erosion <br />control work. CAT 416B Backhoe loader or equivalent 74 fhp machine with operator and a five <br />(5) cubic yazd on/off highway end dump truck with operator shall be furnished for additional <br />work as needed. <br />The hours outlined in Item 5 of the Bid Schedule are NOT guaranteed. All work will be <br />accomplished according to Specification 19.0, Equipment Rental, attached. <br />Measurement and Payment <br />Measurement and payment will be made as per Specification 19.0, Equipment Rental, which is <br />attached. Payment will be made at the unit prices established in Item 5 of the Bid Schedule. The <br />hours outlined in Item 5 of the Bid Schedule are NOT guaranteed. <br />6 <br />
