MEMORANDUM TO: Gary Goodell, County Planning FROM: Jim Crain, Director - Real Estate/Open Space DATE: August 21, 1981 RE: Open Space Board of Trustees ' Recommendations on the Deepe Farm - Flatirons Gravel Proposal Our File: OS-279 The Open Space Board of Trustees has reviewed the complete materials available on this proposal and discussed the proposal at its August 20, 1981 meeting. The Board held a lengthly discussion with the staff, the representative of Flatirons and members of the public. The Board then voted on the following motion: The Open Space Board of Trustees unanimously makes the following recommendations: That the 168. 5 acres known as the Deepe Farm not be acquired for Open Space at this time; That this is with the strong recommendation that the Open Space designation will remain with the property and that the property will remain a priority area for purchase as each phase (or the phases) of mining and reclaimation is complete; The Board recommends a periodic review of each phase (or the phases) of reclaimation (as completed) ; The Board is concerned with the preservation of natural elements and recommends more natural land contours for the proposed lakes, particularly the proposed western shorelines; The Board is concerned with the preservation of existing trees and the replanting of new trees;
