M-94-117
Desointion of MininpAdivilier
The Gold Hill Mill, owned by Colina Oro Molina, ]nc. (COM, IncJ is located ]0 miles west
of Boulde Colorado in the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Sectio+u 12, T1N, R72W, in the 6th
Principal Meridian The mill and associatod tailings pond is eo an elevation between 8525
and 8600 feet, There ere currently 6.20 acres permitted and 3.46 accts dishabed.
The mill processes ore by crushing, and grinding. The ore is separated from waste rock
(tarlirrgy) by gravity sepma4on on tables mud gravity cones, and by flotation using soda ash,
pine oil and xenthate to condition the ore and promote flotation The tailings ere thicloerred
in a thickener tank end pumped outside to alined tailings Pond adjacent to the-mill building
through a PVC pipe that is buried most of the way to the teilvrgs pond. Ore is tnrdted to the
mill and dumpcdvr a two compartment ore bin adjacent to the mill. The art is withdrawn
from the bins by conveyors et the bottom of the bim. Ore is conveyed into the mill building
when the processing is completed The mill building is a 70.faot by 120.foot metal building
that houses all of the gushing grinding, conceruuating, end ihic]renitrg circuits.
Tailings are spigoted into the tailings pond, crtaiing a beach mrs end a pond eras created by
decant water. The decant water is pumped back to the mill to be reused in the Processing
circuit. During arty storm events, storm water is drown off the tailings through a decmrt line
above the tailings sends and through a PVC discJumge line to the Haul A edit located below
the tailings pond. The storm water is stortd behind a bulkhead in the edit end pumped back
to the mill to be used es process water or diverted to the tailings pond for evaporation Any
leakage from tlu bulkhead is contained by a cofferdam. Water from the cofferdam is pumped
back behind the bulkhead. The process and storm water from the tailings pond is a closed
loop -
The mill has not processed any ore since mid-1994. Several conditions in the DMG
reclamation permit must be met before milling operations emu resume.
2. Runoff is collected by a berm end french drain system below the waste dump
and piped to the tailings pond through a solid PVC buried pipe.
• Aree 2 -The tailings area includes the tailings pond and a backslope that extends up to a
berm end ditch above and behind the tailings pond Moat of the area below the ditch is
