MCC would like to meet with you to look at the road(s) to be repaired, so that specifications
for the contractor can be prepared to ensure that the proper work is completed.
Also, MCC has provided materials and laborers to Riley Searle of Whistling Acres Ranch (a BLM
grazing lessee) to complete repairs to your south fence during the first three days of last week when the
weather and ground conditions were more favorable. As you know, these repairs were completed
Wednesday afternoon, June 18, 1997. Per your telephone call Thursday morning, l understand that Riley
had contacted you Wednesday evening to arrange for sorting of cattle on Thursday on both sides of the
fence. Riley, an experienced cattleman, stated that the fence is in sufficient condition to hold cattle
(unless they are being chased). MCC believes that the fence will now function as intended and should
address your concern.
MCC had offered in our letter to you of May 20, 1997, to provide assistance to you in completing repairs
to the fence, as MCC believes that much of the repairs needed were due to normal snow load and wildlife
damage. Instead, MCC, with the assistance of Riley, completed all of the repairs. Please recognize that
MCC does not take responsibility for normal, natural damages, but completed this work anyway.
Apparently, Riley has completed similar repairs (though not as extensive) on this fence during the past
two years at the request of the BLM.
Please contact me should you have questions.
Sincerely,
,(tztell
Kathleen G.
Environmental Supervisor
cc: David Berry, CDMG
Mike Boulay,CDMG
Kirk Mueller, ARCC Legal
Phil Schmidt, MCC
