_,

March 19, 1982
Mr. Robert Liddle
Mined Land Reclamation Division
Colorado Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 423
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Mr. Liddle:
III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

r~~rz 2 2 1982
rJ~IrdED LAND R~CLAr~ATlt7N
Colo. Dept. of ~datlral Rescuree~
Attached is information submitted to me by John Nelson, Keenesburg
Mine Manager, concerning Stipulation 18 to our Permit. The information
addresses the geometry (height and slope angle) of the overburden spoil
stockpiles and the method of placement of material.
Shown on Appendix t4-2 and M-5 is the approximate area extent and
typical cross-section geometry of the initial overburden spoil pile and
the regraded temporary spoil pile. The most northerly extent of the
regraded, combined Piles 1 and 2 will be as indicated by the dashed line
labeled "EDGE OF SPOIL" on Appendix M-2. The southerly extent will be
approximately as indicated in the area south of Pile 1., but south of
Pile 2 the edge will be about 200 feet further southwest than shown.
The detailed geometry of the piles (initial and regraded) in the
Pile 2 area is shown on the attached cross-sectional drawings. As this
spoil pile is developed to the southwest, the configuration will more
closely approximate the typical cross-sections shown in Appendix M-5.
John rielson has also furnished the attached narrative information
on spoil pile design and material emplacement procedures.
Please call me at 277-1629 (277-6005 after rlarch 26) if there is
further information either John or I can provide to resolve this issue.
WSR:bd
Sincerely yours,
William S.
