Long
Division Director
RE: Ann Tat ~ 's Re for Angle of Draw Clarification
In response to Ann Tatum's request for clarification of Division
references to angle of draw at the Golden Eagle mine, included in
her letter to you of February 2, 1995, I provide the following
comments.
Mrs. Tatum writes:
"Jim Pendleton stated during your inspection of Februaxy
1, 1995, that the angle of draw with regard to the depth of
the mine and distance from the mine to our home was 23° to
27°. Daniel Harnandez on August 12, 1993, calculated the
angle of draw at 30°. I have been advised that Jim Pendleton
testified at hearings in 1994, with reference to the Baldwin
property, that the angle of draw was 35°.
Please advise why three (3) different angles of draw are
being used."
(1) "Jim Pendleton stated during your inspection of February 1,
1995, that the angle of draw with regard to the depth of the
mine and distance from the mine to our home was 23° to 27°."
Following my examination of the Tatum structure on February 1,
1994, I presented a 30 minute summary of my preliminary
opinion. Following my comments, I completed an
environmental examination of the surrounding several acres.
I prefaced my comments regarding my preliminary summary of
observations regarding the condition of the Tatum structure
with generic comments regarding mine subsidence. During that
discussion I referred to the angle of draw- I recall stating
