Long <br /> Division Director <br />RE: Herbicide Release Investigation, Montgomery Pit, Permit No. M-86-104 <br />Dear Ms. Blandford: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology has completed a review of the analytical results from the soil <br />and water sampling conducted on March 26, 1999 at the Montgomery Pit. Based on [his review, the <br />Division concurs with the recommendation contained in the letter from Greg Lewicki dated May l7, <br />1999 that the road base pile sampled on March 26 can be used in B & B's construction jobs, but may <br />not be used in the manufacture of asphalt. <br />The Division has also reviewed the container management policy and the hazazd communication <br />program documents you provided with a letter dated June 9, 1999. These documents adequately <br />address and satisfy corrective action no. 4 listed in the Division's November 16, 1998 inspection report. <br />As a result, all issues related to the herbicide release at the Montgomery Pit have now been resolved. <br />Please note that problem PB-2 from the inspection report regarding the size and clean-out requirements <br />for above ground fuel tank containment basins remains to be addressed. <br />Thank you for your cooperation in these matters.
