-14-
IV. Geology - Rules 2.04.5 and 2.04.6(2)
For a description of the geology for the mine area, please see the Regional Geology
and Ground Water Rydrology portion of Section iX, Probable Hydrologic Consequences
and Cumulative Impact Assessment of this document.
The geology sections of the permit application, found in Sections 2.04.5 and 2.04.6
of the Bear No. 1 and No. 2 application and in the saner sections of the Bear No. 3
application, have been reviewed by the Division for compliance. Deficiencies noted
in the P.A.R. of May 15, 1981 have been resolved. The applicant has supplied
revised geologic maps delineating faults, folds and landslides.
Drill hole Logs requested by the Division were provided in Maps 2.04.6(2)(a)-7 and
2.09.6(2)(a)-8 of the Bear No. 1 and No. 2 application. Electric logs were provided
for two holes in Exhibit 8 of the Bear No. 3 application. The applicant stated
that the depth where water was first encountered in the holes drilled by ARCO above
the workings of the Bear No. I and No. 2 was not available, but that during hydrologic
testing, no large volumes of water were encountered in sandstone zones above the F
seam. During drilling of two exploration holes on the permit area above the proposed
Bear No. 3 workings, no water was encountered.
The analyses of the C seam coat requested by the Division is provided on page 2.04-21
of the Bear No. 3 application.
All concerns pertaining to the geology description which were raised in the Division's
review have been satisfactorily resolved and the proposed operation is in compliance.
