<br /> <br />FIELD LAND USE AND TREATMENT <br />N0. AMOUNT YEAR FRUITA N0. 1 AND N0. 2 MINES <br />47.75 Commerical Coal Mine - Underground <br />operation. This plan deals with <br />actions to be taken for re-vegetating <br />surface areas disturbed by construction <br />to open the mine. <br />Reclamation Treatment <br />47.75 Critical Area Treatment: On disturbed <br />areas around the portal. entry which will <br />not be in use for mine operation. <br />Soil Stockpiling: All available to top- <br />soil or useable soil material from the <br />former mining work will be stockpiled or <br />kept separate from undesireable tailings. <br />Land Smoothing: Disturbed areas will be <br />reshaped to blend with the surrounding <br />land contours. Steep slopes will be <br />flattened to slopes of 2•:1 or less. <br />Useable topsoil material will then be <br />replaced, at least 6" of soil material <br />will be replaced. <br />Re-vegetation: Re-vegetation treatment <br />will 6e started as soon as is practicable <br />considering the season of the year. Will <br />seed adapted grasses and legumes. <br />Mulching: Will apply a mulch of native <br />hay or clean straw following seeding of <br />grass. The normal rate of application <br />is 4000 lbs. per acre, crimped into the <br />surface. <br />S~hr~u~b P~lan~ti~ng: Will also plant the fore- <br />mentione~ amount of grasses and shrubs per <br />acre to provide food and cover for wild- <br />life. Following are several suggested <br />adapted species for planting (tdarch-April): <br />Fourwing Saltbrush <br />Rabbit Brush <br />Green Epitedra <br />All areas planted to grass shrubs will <br />be protected from fire and grazing, by <br />fencing if necessary. <br />~._ <br />Land Adequately Treated: After all above <br />practices are completed. <br />-4- <br />
