~ • -
* s ** Seedlings may be extremely difficult to obtain.
Of the shrubs, Four Wing Saltbush is the best for vegetation.
Also, Fourwing is available in seed form and is readily
available from numerous seed companies.
Annual precipitation data collected in our area shows that
planting success would be best in the months of March and
April. These two months receive more precipitation than any
others and growing conditions are considered to be at their
highest potential.
Approximately 1.28 acres, consisting of a portion of the
topsoil stockpile and containment berm, were hydroseeded
in December 1979.
5. Type and quantity of fertilizer, organic material or soil
conditioners and locations.
a. Approximately 200 pounds of ammonium phosphate (20-20-0),
Conweb 2000 with tackafier (a wood fiber mulch) at 1 ton
per acre, and 30 pounds of seed per acre was applied to
reclaimed construction related areas.
6. An appraisal of the success of reclamation.
a.• At this time those areas that were hydroseeded seem to be
doing very well. These areas were seeded in December,
whereas the SCS recommended seeding in March-April. Seeding
in the late fall seems to be more ideal as more optimum use
of winter and early spring moisture can be obtained.
Construction related reclamation of surface disturbed areas
is within the designated timetable provided in Appendix "A"
of The Fruita Mines Reclamation Plan, #79-60 ug/c.
7. Estimates of the location and number of acres to be affected
in the coming year.
a. During the next year at The Fruita Mines site, little or
no areas are planned to be affected by surface disturbances,
other than those noted in #3 of this report. A revision
of this planning may be necessary should the Preference Right
Leases be issued.
-3-
