A sedimentation
system approved b}• the Division and in compliance with the regulations will
route undisturbed flow around the disturbance and will conduct a1i flora from the
disturbed area through a properly sized sedimentation pond. The water contained
in the sedimentation pond will be released into the natural drainage only
after it is determined that the discharged crater will meet all applicable
effluent standards.
The pond design for the McClane Can}-on vine is adequate wit?: respect to
size and location. However, no provi=_ions have been made for dewaterirg
the pond at the ma::imum sediment level. Salt Cree}: "fining Company has
agreed to install a dewztering device in the pond. This dewatering device
c•ill ensure that the pond will at all times be capable of containing the
10 year-2~ hour runoff event.
Some ditches represented in the mine plan indicated high, potentially erosive,
velocities when carrying the flow fror,~ the 10 year-24 hour event. These
ditches are, for the most par*_, natural drainages that existed prior to mine
development. The material in the ditches consists of lzrge rocYs and bedroc}:.
These ditches are therefore considered to be non-erosive and stable.
