The condition of the individual features previously mentioned were measured using
method (1) ("Cross-Section Survey") outlined in Permit No. C-80-001, Section 4.3. This method
was chosen to determine the rate of degradation or agradation within these reaches over time.
The stability of the hillslope was measured using a modification of the individual feature
method. In this case, a reference stake was placed on each side of the suspected movement area
with two stakes placed in the monitored azea to form astraight-line transect. Any offset of the
center stakes was then noted. Two transects were placed on the hillslope to determine if any
differential movement within the suspect hillslope occurred.
MONITORING INFORMATION
MOFFAT AREA SUMMARY
Ten separate blocks aze designated in the Moffat Area. These azeas are shown on Exhibit
I, Sheet 1 of 2, of this report. Table 1 provides a summary of the inventory data and is followed
by a brief description of each area and the corrective measures performed on each block as a
result of previous inventories. The numerical value for each block represents the composite
erosion condition soil surface factor (SSF) score as determined by the inventory methods.
Table 1: Moffat Area Erosion Inventory Data Summary
Area 1997 1996 1995 1993 1992
Blockl 18 17 22 9/40' 9
Block 2 12 26 18 6 6
Block 3 18 21 23
Block 4 18 18 26 6
Block 5 9 21 32 6
Block 6 15 24 26
Block 7 24 20 43
Block 8 25 24 43
Block 9 24 30 37
* This area was sub-divided into two sections during the 1994 inventory.
Block 1 contains live-handled roto-cleared topsoil (1992) that did not receive additional seeding
as a test block for the reintroduction of native plant species on live-handled roto-cleared topsoil.
• Repair of single gully on northem portion of Block (1994).
• A portion of the northem section of Block received interseeding in 1995 as described in the
1995 Annual Reclamation Report.
Block 2 contains live-handled roto-cleared topsoil that was seeded in the spring of 1993.
• Gully shaped and matted, Downdrain 3 (1995).
