<br />b. Soil-Bentonite Wall. <br />The soil-bentonite liner shall be designed to meet the "Design <br />Standard" as described in the State Engineer Guidelines for Lining <br />Criteria for Gravel Pits, August 1999, as amended. The liner design <br />shall be performed by a Colorado registered engineer and be <br />submitted to Thornton upon or before execution of this agreement. <br />Any modifications of the liner design occurring subsequent to the <br />execution of the Agreement shall be submitted to Thornton for <br />review and comment at least thirty (30) days before the start of <br />installation. The design documents submitted to Thornton shall <br />include, at a minimum, the following: <br />(1) Plan and profile drawings that show the top and bottom <br />elevation of the soil-bentonite wall; <br />(2) Geotechnical data such as boring logs and laboratory tests <br />used to evaluate the subsurface materials and prepare the <br />design; <br />(3) An estimate of the steady-state leakage rate into an empty <br />pit; <br />(4) Technical specifications for soil-bentonite wall installation; <br />(5) Sources of materials used in construction and mix design for <br />the soil-bentonite backfill; <br />(6) Normal pool elevation for the completed facility; <br />(7) Other pertinent backup information used to prepare the <br />design. <br />ii. A quality assurance plan for the installation of the liner prepared by <br />a Colorado registered engineer shall be submitted to Thomton upon <br />or before execution of this Agreement. Any modifications of the <br />liner quality assurance plan occurring subsequent to the execution <br />of the Agreement shall be submitted to Thomton for review and <br />comment at least thirty (30) days before the start of installation.
