(Golder) provided the Cripple Creek & Victor
Gold Mining Company (CC&V) with both a "redline/strikeout° copy and a "clean" copy
of ttte proposed 1996 Phase II completion specifications.
Page 02776.0-12 in the redline/atrllceout copy presents the typical properties for the 8U mil
smooth and textured Linear Low Density Polyethylene (Li.DPE). Golder intended the
Atncrican Standards of Tcs(ing and Materials (ASTM) D4833 as the specified means of
determining the pututure resistance of the geotnembratu, and this reference is shown as a
redline or addition to the spccificatiotrs. The reference to FTM lO1C -2065 should have
been struclcout. In Table Z.O1C on page 02776-16, there is the reference to both ASTM
D4833 and PTM lO1C 2065 as the ust method for determining the puncture resistance of
the 100 mil smooth and texttred LLDPE. Agaln, Golder intended the American Standards
of Testing and Materials (ASTM) D4833 as the cpecafied means of determining the
puncttre resistance of the georrtembrane. In the clean copies that were provided, the
ASTM D4833 test method that Golder intended to be used as the puncture resistance test
taethod was somehow replaced by FT'M lO1C 2065.
For all rho materials, the specified test method for the deurmination of the puncture
resistance should be ASTM D4833. ASTM D4833 is an industry standard for the
determination of the puncture resistance of a geomembrane, last revised in 1988. The
FTM lO1C 2065 was developed in the 1970'x. Golder would Like to take this opportunity
to clariiy this issue with CCl'tV and apologize for any cdnfusion that this may have
generated. Copies of the revised tables are attached.
~.,
OFFICES IN AU51'RAUA.CANADA. 6ERAMNY. NUNGnRV, ITAW, SWFOEN. UNITED gNpDOM UNRFD SWFS
