1984 Annual Report
Sand Pit 77-213
May 22, 1984
COMMENTS: In the last annual report mention was made of possibly
moving the ditch and removing the "dike" separating this opera-
tion from Daniel's Sand Pit #2 to the South. In the last year
much work has been put into this plan and many of the approvals
have already been acquired. Much of the basic engineering design
has also been finished.
In brief, the plan will call for moving the ditch to the north
side of the Sand Pit and then under Academy Boulevard, a Colorado
State Highway. This will allow removal of the pipe over Academy
and most importantly the concrete supports which have taken at
least three lives in auto accidents. When the ditch is removed,
the "dike" will be mined out and the west side lowered about 20
feet. At present, the thought is to backfill the Sand Pit and
produce a gently sloping area from the north side of the Sand Pit
southward to Bradley Road. Integrated changes will also occur
east of Academy, but these plans are still somewhat less definite
due to some complicating land use factors in that area.
(CAS79/26)
