At the reference area, much of the cover is in woody plants (shrubs or subshrubs).
Approximately 10% of the ground is covered by vegetation that actually contacts the
surface, although the actual cover is 22.67%. Using the Table 7 row for short brush
(0.5 meter fall height) and a canopy cover of SOgo, an interpolation between the value
of 0.26 at uro ground cover and 0.13 for 20% ground cover can be made for a ground
cover of 10%. This results in a CP factor of 0.195.
At Area 1, the total vegetation cover amount is approximately the same as the reference
azea, but a much higher percentage of the cover is graminoids and forts, which contact
the ground surface to a much greater degree. Therefore, the CP factor chosen for
Area 1 is 0.14 which is slightly higher than the amount shown for 20% ground contact
cover in the same row as that described for the reference azea.
At Area 2, a similar situation to Area 1 is present where the predominant cover is
provided by graminoids and forts, therefore, a CP of 0.14 is also selected for Area 2.
It is reasonable to expect that the CP factors for the reclaimed areas will be lower than
the reference azea since the vegetation levels are approximately equal but the reclaimed
areas have a much higher proportion of grasses that wntact the ground surface.
III. RESULTS
SEDCAD SIMULATION PRINTOUTS
Table 8 pages contain the SEDCAD printouts for the two reclaimed areas and the
reference area. Al] inputs and watershed parameters aze also shown.
1
28
