32

' 3. Parking terminal for mass transit into Denver
' See Appendix IV. Compatible with alternative 1.
4. Overnight camping "cliff-dweller" style
' See Appendix IV. Future energy supplies will determine the validity
of this suggestion. Compatible with alternatives 1 and 3.
5. Stadium
See Appendix IV. Compatible primarily with alternative 1,
' 6. Equipment storage and maintenance area
' Many corporations, cities, counties and states have trucks, construction
equipment and road maintenance equipment that needs temporary storage and
continual maintenance. Maintenance yards are not compatible with some
land uses. Furthermore, we may need in the future to confine such activities
to sites not needed for agriculture, housing or other more discriminating
uses of land.
' Needs
This would require that the crusher area, bottom of quarry, and possibly
some of the benches, be accessible to store equipment, a maintenance shed,
' water, electricity and sewer facilities to the maintenance shed. Special
facilities would be needed to assure no leakage of waste oils and fuels
into Strain Gulch Stream.
' Environmental impacts
' Impacts should be negligible if oil and fuel materials are kept out of the
soil and water.
7. Drive-in theater
' Compatible with alternative 1 only. If we adopt the philosophy that
productive soils should not be paved over for uses such as drive-ins,
' then the quarry site, with a potential for 24 flat acres, qualifies as
a good site,
' Needs
Level the quarry bottom and present operating area. Surface and provide
drainage. Lower terraces might also be kept open to accommodate eiutos.
' Electricity, water and sanitary facilities would be necessary. Landscaping
on the benches would be helpful.
' Environmental Impacts
Some pollution from oil and gasoline wastes might wash into Strain Gulch,
but it would be much less than from an equal area of highway.
